I don’t think he’s defiant. I think he’s the point man for the retreat.
Have you seen the liberal blogosphere? So if the approval rating for the Obama plan was 45% or so before this, what is it now? Maybe 25%?
I remember seeing a comment from a “senior Democratic aide” or some such calling this entire boondoggle “Hillary’s Revenge”. No kidding. She ran him right into a corner on this during the primary, knowing better than anyone alive what a buzz-saw it was.
The left is way, way madder about this than we ever were. We never trusted the guy to begin with. They projected every frustrated hope and dream onto him — and he did nothing but encourage that. It was all he had to sell, and it went like hotcakes.
This is going to get really interesting.
