Robert Gibbs is an Embarrassment and Should Resign

Allahpundit’s stated purpose for posting this video on Hot Air was to show how the press is getting a little cranky about Obama’s, shall we say, Chavezian, control of the press. The One’s Healthcare townhall today will have preselected questioners and questions and participation is by invitation only. Outside of Stepford, Connecticut, there is no town in America that would ever have a townhall meeting that looks like this one.
Chip Reid and Helen Thomas do a good job asking the questions of Robert Gibbs, but as I watched, the point of the questions became increasingly irrelevant. Gibbs acts like a smart-ass 16 year old kid. He dodges, answers questions with questions, repeats his silly juvenile retorts over and over (“have you sent YOUR email to the president, Chip?”), all the while sarcastically laughing off the question.
When you compare Gibbs to former White House Press Secretaries like Ari Fleischer or Marlin Fitzwater, Gibbs looks like a mildly retarded frat boy on open-mike night at daddy’s nightclub. The President of the United States can do better than a guy who sounds like the high water mark of his communications career was finishing third-place in the 1977 southwest Alabama regional high school debate competition.
