Have we seen anything in the MSM about pressure on Rahm Emanuel to resign? Nothing from the L.A. Times. Or the New York Times.
But the U.K. and Australian papers often print stories their liberal American cousins will not. And they think something is afoot.
From the Herald Sun in Australia, under the headline Barack Obama Chief Rahm Emanuel Urged to Resign.
BARACK Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, was under pressure to resign last night after it was revealed he had been captured on wire taps discussing candidates for the US president-elect’s Illinios Senate seat.
Mr Emanuel’s presence at the heart of the scandal threatens to roil Mr Obama’s administration as a Chicago prosecutor builds his corruption case against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, The Australian reports.

THE bullish, foul-mouthed but effective Chicago arm-twister Rahm Emanuel has come under pressure to resign as Barack Obama’s chief of staff after it was revealed that he had been captured on court-approved wire-taps discussing the names of candidates for Obama’s Senate seat.
And have we heard anything about Emanuel lawyering-up?
For the “No Drama” Obama team, the spiralling controversy has been an alarming distraction in the midst of the US economic meltdown. Obama has yet to release a promised timeline of contacts between members of his transition team and the governor’s office, while Emanuel is thought to be consulting lawyers.
It seems that somebody is pressuring Emanuel to resign. Is it somebody in the White House-elect? Is it Republicans? Why won’t the American press even tell the story? (It’s a rhetorical question).
Interesting to note that Emanual has not resigned his House seat yet and initially waffled about accepting the Chief of Staff position in the first place. Maybe he could hear the skeletons rattling around in his closet. Obama’s team was dredged from the same swamp from which Blagojevich was pulled. Is it any surprise that Emanuel was on the phone wheeling and dealing with Blago to fill the Senate seat? Will it be any surprise if the notoriously foul-mouthed Emanuel was caught on tape with the equally foul-mouthed Blago in a conversation that would make sailors blush and women huddle their children?
Emanuel is starting to look a lot like Obama’s Zoë Baird. Methinks his days are numbered.
