Profiles in Cowardice: Mary Bono Mack
It doesn’t matter if both sides of the Senate aisle are saying the energy bill is DOA. First, I don’t believe a thing Sen. Reid says. On anything. Even when he says, “Hi, my surname is Reid,” or “I’m short. Rep. Pelosi and I make good dance partners.” As far as I am concerned, his don’t-worry-DOA words are calculated to quell the coming storm he fears from the House vote as the contents of the bill become clearer.
We are left with the aftermath of the 219-212 House vote. Eight “republicans” broke rank. They voted for a bill they didn’t read, which is not just a huge tax increase but even bigger federal power grab, and who should enjoy the 111th Congress – because each one should be swept out of office for the 112th.
Here’s the specs on the first of the Wayward Ones:
First elected in 1998 after her husband died doing the Euell Gibbons thing, she’s presently inbreeding with fellow congressman and now husband Connie Mack (FL 14th, loyal Republican). According to the glory-hole repository of knowledge, Wikipedia, the girl didn’t even use the surname “Bono” until after the tree-eating incident. How opportunistic.
Interestingly, her only committee assignment is on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which means that in some measure she actually knew what she was voting for. All the better. Recently, she had the unmitigated gall to abstain on the floor vote for House Resolution 420 – “Celebrating the symbol of the United States flag and supporting the goals and ideals of Flag Day.” It passed 391-0-42
Her special-interest rankings give insight to her troubled credentials: 40% consistent with Planned Parenthood; -0%- with Sportsmen and Animal Owner’s Voting Alliance; and a “C-” from the National Taxpayers Union. While the NRA gives her a “B,” the Gun Owners of America have ranked her most recently a “D” and from -0- to 100 before that – the girl’s all over the map. Another example of wayward voting is her English First ranking – -0- to 100 over the course of two years. Her National Journal Composite Liberal score is consistently in the high 30′s. The hags at NOW give her a 64.
Some of her biggest contributors are energy companies. Wonder how that’s working out for them?
She won her 2009 re-election 58-42, despite having four times the money of her challenger.
Conclusion: Unreliable. RINO. Needs to go for reasons well beyond her recent defection.
If you want to contact Mary, there’s plenty of ways to communicate your feelings:
Her congressional contact page has an e-mail form, addresses, and phone numbers.
Here’s her Twitter page.
Her MySpace page.
Enjoy!

Wow Clyde, you ripped her a new one.
I expect 7 more of these by tomorrow!!
7 more, yes, but perhaps not in the next 24 hours. How’d you like the Euell Gibbons crack?
Mary Bono riding on the coat-tails of Sonny is over. It should have been over many years ago.
I have always voted for Mary, but she’s nothing but a “Do Nothing” political hack.
Pack your bags Mary. We are defeating as many incumbents as possible.
Boot Bono & Bounce Boucer!!!! There is another great candidate out there. Clay Thibodeau is a constitutional republican. We are having a candidate for 2010 fair on Dec 13, 2009 at Wooden Nickel Ranch in Menifee, CA. Time from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. Chuck DeVore and Clay Thibodeau will be there and some other candidates. Lots to do beside listening to the candidates; booths for information, food and fun. Get inspired – get involved – get informed. http://www.townhallforconservatives.com/ or email me at vote4clay4usa@verizon.net
