Palin, misunderestimated

I began prepping for this article by saving multiple links condemning and dismissing soon-to-be ex-Gov Palin’s decision to resign in late July. The political obituaries, however, became so ubiquitous that I simply stopped and closed all the tabs. It seems that everyone is so desperate to show Sarah the exit door, that they cannot think or write (yes, those are two different things not always co-existing) anything of depth. It’s boilerplate claptrap lacking wholly in analysis. Let’s step back and not fall into the tea-leaf world of the political soothsayers.

Sarah Palin resigned her office effective July 24, 2009. That’s a fact. She’s been on the road giving speeches over the past several months and, accordingly, not in Alaska devoting her full time to the requirements of her job. That, too, is a fact.

Now allow me to venture into opinion. Sarah Palin is real. She’s so clean that she makes John McCain look sleazy. I like McCain. He gave a lot to this country, and this country has given a lot to him. But he is old school. He’s yesterday cutout of a politician. So is Obama. So is Terry McAuliffe. So is Bill Clinton and Her Thighness. So is Newt. All of these folks – save Sarah – share a root system. They understand that “to get you have to give.” They vote to fund studies of the sexual life of trout so they will get the votes for concrete to be poured inside their district. All of these people – every one of them sans Sarah – have been hanging around the same barbershop for so long that they all share the same ‘do.

Now comes Sarah Palin. She’s smart and aggressive. She told WDC to keep its few hundred million dollars to build a bridge from an island of a few thousand folks to another island with a small airport and 50 inhabitants. When WDC wouldn’t fund a natural-gas line, she put together a coalition of private companies to fund it. She solves problems. She’s consistent in her beliefs. And, yeah, her daughter was out banging some boy – hunh, go figure – how unusual. Sarah Palin is a real person that has avoided the plasticization that en-robes the overwhelming majority of other politicians. See Chris Dodd, John Kerry, Arlen Specter, Paul Kanjorski, and that libtard-behind-the-scenes whorelot Brad Woodhouse. Sarah has the personal integrity to look at someone like Harry “The Troll” Reid and Nancy “I’m not an official dwarf when I wear pumps” Pelosi and say, “I’m disappointed. Help me understand WTF you just did.” And she can pull it off!

That, I submit, is the key to understanding Sarah Palin. Since she is accountable to herself, others around her are likewise compelled to be accountable. And personal accountability is anathema to old-school politicians. And to David Letterman. And to Paul Begala. And to whorechild Brad Woodhouse.

So they had to try to drive her out, and they relied on the slimiest trick in the book: She’s a Christian – she won’t throw mud back, and if she does we’ll label her a hypocrite. The old-school politicians and girls for hire (Woodhouse, et al.) saw it as a win-win. So now Sarah does something unpredictable, and they respond in complete predictability.

Is she stepping out of politics or up to the next league? I have no idea. My gut tells me the latter, but I likewise can’t cleanse my desire for her to do that from my instincts. With that qualifier, let’s presume she is stepping up (otherwise we can stop here, eh?)

Let’s get some tools and then work with them. What is the issue most important in this country from a conservative perspective? Obama needs to be de-nutted (although that’s a figurative statement because, literally, I believe he has no balls). How can that be done most quickly? Flip or split Congress. How can that be done? By spreading the conservative message and raising money.

We have five months tops to line up candidates for the 2010 primaries. New candidates need money. Sometimes they need to be seen with bigger names to garner for themselves name recognition. Sarah can continue her speeches for now, then she will transit into more candidate-specific support. She can bring to the venues the true conservative base, the die-hards. Her endorsement would speak – to me – of an endorsed candidate of a new mold. Sarah is the fresh air in the room. Only she can look at the Old Guard and say, “Thank you for your service. We’ll take it from here.”

How can one best position to get the POTUS nomination? Prove (not promise) your ability to influence elections (remember Obama’s PAC way before he started his POTUS run? He spread money around freely). By helping to make 2010 into 1994, she will have her treasure chest full.

Above all else, she needs to do this on her terms. Alone. At least through the 2010 cycle. Then others will be joining her path. She’ll be the trailblazer.

Expect the legacy party people to continue to dismiss her. But with every dismissal, all I hear is the whimpers of a dying person. Make no mistake: Sarah Palin is our Margaret Thatcher. And Margaret was dismissed until she took the reins, as well.

Sarah Palin both lives and thinks outside the box. That is why she confuses almost everyone, because most of us live inside the box, and don’t think beyond the 4 walls. This move is extremely bold, and brave. She fulfilled her promise to Alaskans by performing her job to the best of her ability, with their interests at heart. The 0bama and Murkowski crowd made common cause over the last several months to block as many of her proposals as possible, and a small army of leftist losers have been filing numerous “ethics” complaints which eat up not only state funds, but the funds of Palin and her family. These assaults would have continued right up until 2010 when she was up for reelection. This way she is free to speak, come and go, and do what she wants, free of the pettiness of Alaskan politics as well as the 0bama/Axelrod inspired attacks, now she can fight back. A moving target is much harder to hit as we saw with her highly successful swing through NY a month ago. They couldn’t very well attack her for attracting over 20,000 people to Auburn, the only line of attack they had was to attack her family (letterman.) Letterman’s attack backfired, and now this brilliant move. Palin’s been on a roll for the last 3 months, and I don’t see it ending any time soon.

Agreed completely Greg. All the old hacks in the press are pronouncing her resignation as a bad thing. I think it was a brilliant political move.

  3. Democrats never understood strategery.

  4. Go Sarah!

This was planned by Sarah back in November when Mac lost the election.

All you have to do is play that video of Maxine Waters slipping on her tongue and saying that she’s taking this country to socalism and conservatives will get off their butts and vote this time instead of staying home.
Independents and Bluedogs are ready to support Palin. You have to smack down Mrs presnitwitident because she is out for blood and has her coy minions in the press doing her dirty work including Vanity unFair. Mucherelle Obama writes the playbook and the minions are the water bearers.
This short video is part of why Blue Dog Dems and Indies are ready to support Palin.

Wow, “misunderestimated?”, a word? You talk like Sarah Palin does and think like she does, or tries anyway. Sarah Palin was picked from obscurity to be the V.P nomination on the Republican Ticket with John McCain, why? Because no one else liked McCain enough to deal with the old man for 4, possibly 8 years. Also, because they thought she was squeaky clean.
Turns out she is NOT. She is not even balanced. She was a loose canon and they knew they had picked a nut. Yes, I said nut. Palin was one heartbeat, way too close to becoming our President. A job she was not qualified in the slightest for. A degree in Journalism, she couldn’t keep that job either.

She has set women back so far by her little run. Not what educated women wanted to see in our second attempt at reaching the White House. Ferraro was first if you will remember. Palin has not earned the right to the Presidency because she doesn’t know anything about breaking the glass ceiling. Proof of her imcompetancy is everywhere and it is your party that bashes her the hardest, not the Democrats. Actually Palin is going to implode on herself. It is inevitable when you are that stupid. She is a threat to America, not because she may “become the next Reagan”, as you put it, but because she cannot finish the job of being even a governor. She didn’t even cross the line well within the Republican party this past election. They wouldn’t even let her speak at McCain’s concession speech. LOL!

Speaking of which….You are right she is a big draw to events. But several times she was used just for that, especially in MN. Palin is T and A and that is all she is, no substance at all. They (Your party) do not want her opening her mouth.

So what’s do be done for Sarah….well for one I am not wasting one more keystroke on a pathetic excuse for a woman or candidate.

Signed, Progressive Liberal and Patriot Too…and in Power Now! Get Used to It!

P.S. Your joke below with the math isn’t funny. It shows your petty egotistical manner and lack of class.

  7. Cn

She is in a box and thinks it is her own little world. Le’ts just let her play there.

  8. Wow, trashing a female success story as an idiot and simply T & A? Ooh, that is progressive!

  9. Clyde

CM. Calling a woman – any woman – just T&A shows how un-progressive you are. How sad that people like you get to vote.

Wanna put $50 where you big mouth is? Your electoral ass is going to get kicked both in the 2009 gov elections and in the 2010 Congressional. Be a man, CM, c’mon. Do the manly thing, CM. Don’t wimp out. Show everyone you have a sack. Up for it, lad? Or are you just a bitch-slapping punk?

$50. Easy money, right? Let’s see if you’re up for it, pussy.

BTW, my ignorant friend, “misunderestimated” is a term in popular culture meant to be an eye-catcher. Been out there for several years. A little too nuanced for you pick up on. It’s OK. People like you are born stupid – and you can’t fix stupid. Not your fault.
