Obama Approval Rating Crashes Through Another New Low

This is not the Approval Index, which is, incidentally, at -11, but this is the regular old presidential job approval rating. Obama is officially underwater at 46%.

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats approve while 83% of Republicans disapprove. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 66% disapprove.

And, not to sound like a broken record, those 66% of the independents who are running away from the Democrats spell disaster for the Democrats this year in Virginia and New Jersey, and next year in the midterms.

We now have non-partisan straight-shooters like Charlie Cook concluding that the Dems could lose seats next year at least by double digits in the House.

Charlie Cook, one of the best political handicappers in the business, sent out a special update to Cook Political Report subscribers Thursday that should send shivers down Democratic spines.

Reviewing recent polling and the 2010 election landscape, Cook can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.

“These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats. Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low,” he wrote.

When even lefties like Nate Silver (who also happens to be a pretty good prognosticator) start saying it is more like a Democrat loss of 20-50 seats, you can’t accuse us wing-nuts of making this stuff up.

We can pray these numbers are correct and the democrats will be voted out of office before out democracy is destroyed. Even better, vote all of Congress out and let’s have a fresh start. What would be even better would be a Constitutional amendment to have term lengths for all politicians and also one to restrict the fat pensions the Congress so generously has given to itself. They also should be required to take part in any health care plan, social security plan, etc. that they pass for the public. This also should apply to the President. Those that go into office and come out with much more money than they earn at their job should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted if they are into graft as it appears many are.
