Let’s just put this out there right now. If Liz Cheney wants to be president, she’s got my vote. She is asked by Norah O’Donnell about the “torture” techniques and Cheney astutely denies the premise that it is torture at all. She points out that the very same techniques, including waterboarding, are done to our own military as training for being captured. Therefore, by definition, it cannot be torture. She also points out that the techniques were very effective in gaining vital intelligence, which prevented future attacks.

By the end, O’Donnell is unhinged, foaming at the mouth, and yelling at Cheney.

This is the best defense of the enhanced interrogation techniques I have heard to date, other than the ones I made to Clyde in our podcast yesterday.

From a debating standpoint, she is clearly her father’s daughter.

Norah O’Donnell is a great example of the classic clueless liberal who thinks they know what they’re talking about before being utterly destroyed by the facts.
The sad part is, Norah will never change. Liberalism has “infected” people like her and there is no cure – and that is why this country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Recent headlines are full of stories about torture. Writers

seem to be surprised that torture was being used on

detainees suspected of being involved in terrorist activity.

This is nothing new. Torture has been going on since

recorded history. Spartacus, Jesus, and millions of others

rebels were tortured. It was done as punishment to break

their wills before murdering them. This practiced should be

stopped. Nobody but Sadistic monsters benefit from it.
Some are saying that that the recent torture of detainees

was used to gather information that was useful in

protecting the nation. But there has been no proof that a

single bit of that information was useful. There have been

other reasons for torturing hundreds of detainees. New

evidence is surfacing that false confessions were used to

give a valid reason for the invasion of Iraq. There is a wide

spread investigation now going on to get at the truth. It is

feared that the answer will be that it was done for the joy of

the Sadists in power. This should come as no surprise.

Sadism is the norm in most areas of life and it is found

most often in wartime. Many join the military for the

    opportunity to express themselves.
The Sadist is feared most by prisoners because he wants

more than information or a confession. He wants to torture

his victims until there is no resistance or cries of pain. This

might take many months. But once his victims becomes

silent and do not scream in agony the Sadist loses interest.

The prisoners becomes useless and the monster looks for

healthy replacements. Those that were water boarded over

one hundred times until silenced were the healthiest of the

victims. It took many months to obtain their silence. They

were broken, rehabilitated, and could go free.
School yard bullies graduate into the big time when they

gain a position of power in the workplace. A sadistic boss

can make the lives of his employees miserable by

constantly threatening to fire them. But unfortunately some

bullies get absolute power when given the job of torturing

prisoners of war. Their first job is to make sure their

victims are well fed and kept healthy. This gives them the

opportunity to interrogate them endlessly. Confessions of

guilt do not end the torture. The sadist stays with his victim

until there is no resistance. A broken prisoner is of no use

to the grown up school yard bully

Melvin, thank you for taking the time to write. I respect your opinion, but it is not the same as mine.

    1. “Some are saying that that the recent torture of detainees was used to gather information that was useful in protecting the nation.” I disagree that torture was used. I’ve studied torture perpetrated by governments, in particular that used by the Brits against the IRA. What we did was not torture.

    2. “But there has been no proof that a single bit of that information was useful.” I know you don’t mean this as self-serving, but on balance it is. We learn from former VP Cheney that proof does exist, but it is classified. He asked for it to released and has been refused. So we have a president that will release information that puts our country in a bad light, but holds back information that would show us the balance. I find Obama’s acts traitorous in this situation.

This is one more example that the press has not learned its lesson with respect to bullying the Cheney women. They can stand on their own two feet and refuse to be intimidated.

Every time one of the Cheney women is featured in the news my memory brings me back to the day when Lynn Cheney turned the tables on Wolf Blitzer. He tried to bully her during an interview on national TV and she artfully humiliated him to the point of him being speechless. It was a sight to behold and I laughed until tears came to my eyes. Wolf was humbled and he deserved it.

From that time on each time I hear the name Wolf Blitzer I form a picture in my mind of Blitzer slinking off to a cave with his tail between his legs and licking his wounds.

Dick and Lynn taught Liz well. I’m sure they are proud of their daughter.

  5. Wow. She is incredible isn’t she? I’ve made similar arguments on my own blog as having gone through survival training myself in the air force. But, it just goes to show – no matter how well laid out the facts are for these libs – they still have their own emotional beliefs that refuse to allow the facts to get in the way as evidenced by Nora’s response “So, if we didn’t torture our own people, does that mean we tortured other people?” She just doesn’t get it.

Liz Cheney worked for the State Department. And Nora O’Donnell’s credentials are…. what? I mean aside from a biased reporter who works for the state run media.

  7. F Grey Parker

On Friday November 12th 1948, General Kenji Doihara of the Japanese high command was sentenced to death for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Primary amongst the actions for which they had been convicted were the torturous methods with which they interrogated prisoners. One of the principle tools was called the “water cure” otherwise known as waterboarding.

It was a death penalty offense when used by our enemies.

  8. Clyde

That’s awesome, Grey! Yes, many things can be used for dual purposes when administered in different ways. Of course, how we administered waterboarding, and with hope will again, was completely safe.

Al Queada does not qualify for protections under the Geneva Conventions. If I remember, I think that section two defines the five criteria of a “belligerant”.
Al Queada fullfills the criteria of spies, sabotuers, and terrorists under these conventions and, by these conventions, we are obligated to execute them as such.
