John Ziegler Utterly Destroys Contessa Brewer on MSNBC

If you don’t find yourself laughing, or at least smiling, at this manhandling, you might want to check for a pulse. Contessa Brewer was trying to interview talk-radio host John Ziegler about the Letterman/Palin kerfuffle. Zielger had his own ideas about the interview should be conducted. It is beautiful, right down to Brewer’s phony hurt feelings at the end. Sniff, sniff, conservatives are so meeean.

Martin Knight at RedState says Ziegler was “picture-perfect” in his handling of the MSM.

Some variant of disdain, contempt or somewhere in between. No liberal-talking point assertion or premise should be left unchallenged. Openly and repeatedly question their honesty and integrity. Highlight their hypocrisy in their coverage. Change the subject when you feel like it or stay on a subject even if they want to move on. Ask them questions that they have to answer before the interview can go further.

I think Ziegler might have taken a few pages from the Liz Cheney playbook on how to demolish MSM interviewers. I am still not sure whether Norah O’Donnell is able to sit down. The video of that cat-fight got over 8,000 hits on PR.

He came off looking like a smug idiot even if his points were valid. You fight that type of biased coverage with being nice not with being combative.

Nah, we need to call these guys out on their agenda. Of course, you only get to pull this once. He’s undoubtedly blacklisted. If he were a politician, maybe it would be different. But he’s a conservative radio guy. This boosts his ratings.

Normally I would agree with you but I think you need to be audience-sensitive… How many Conservatives watch MSNBC? To the Liberals that watch that network he just comes off like a loudmouth imbecile.

I’m sure the clip with get a lot of play on the web and will help his ratings but I doubt he will win over many people who don’t already agree with him and that, in my opinion, should have been his “mission” during his appearence.

The larger point that gets lost in the din of anything Palin, is that the MSM is terrified that she will get traction. She mesmerizes the GOP base like Obama does his.

Harrison: I respectfully, but wholely disagree with your assessment. Being “sensitive” to the audience in this case is absolutely the wrong approach. Yes, Zeigler is being “insensitive” to the audience, but as anybody who plays chess or fights a war knows, a strong offense is imperative. We are in a war with the media. Attack is called for. If a liberal attacks my stand on something, and I cannot defend it, it wakes me up that maybe I need to re-evaluate my position. Maybe my position is wrong, or maybe I need to study the other side more (a defensive move and strategy). Zeigler’s attack precisely showed that the interviewer could not defend her position. The hard core MSNBC watchers will find Ziegler to be smug, but those who are not hard core will immediately identify with the “winner” – in this case Ziegler. The interviewer, and those of her hard-core audience, need to wake up to the fact that their positions are indefensible. Indefensible positions are only exposed by attack. Personally, I find that there is far too little attack by the conservatives and that they have fallen into a defensive posture on too many things. There are gigantic weaknesses and falsities in liberal thinking that are not exploited with good attacks. Sarah Palin, though she needs some polishing, is pretty good on the offensive. It’s what conservatives need to do.

    Bill:
Mesmerized? I wonder. I like Palin, but it is because I studied her record in Alaska and I like what I saw for the most part. I like her because she appears to have a strength of character that is so lacking in too many politicians. Her strength of character is clearly evidenced with the way she took on the challenge of raising a disabled child – instead of baling out (abortion) like so many selfish people do. She has a courage of her political convictions, which is refreshing to see. I would truly hate to think that she is mesmerizing conservatives as Obamama is doing with liberals. I hope a lot of conservatives are seeing her as just one who can express and provide deliverables for their own convictions.
