Letter issued Friday. Can’t win for losing, eh, O? “Although different types of preventive care have different effects on spending, the evidence suggests that for most preventive services, expanded utilization leads to higher, not lower, medical spending overall.” “Researchers who have examined the effects of preventive care generally find that the added costs of widespread use of preventive services tend to exceed the savings from averted illness.”

Holy Cow. This guy is going to end up in the Potomac before long. I hope he invests in some preventative care, like a sidearm or bodyguard or two. Is there anything left in this proposal that actually or even arguably saves money — except, of course, for the policies that are designed to encourage elderly patients to sign DNR orders, or policies that support terminated pregnancies?
When the news came out (as reported here on PR) that the WH is going back to the well on prosecuting CIA personnel, I figured some other big shoe was dropping and they were going to the “in case of media emergency, break glass” option. I’m thinking this is it.
And go ahead, guys — I would be honored if you “flagged” me to the WH gestapo. I’d be especially honored to have one of the editors at PR do so.

You are absolutely right, Rose. I posted the CIA bit as a NS item. I think it is the highest of deflection on their part.

I can’t turn you in “fishy behavior,” dear. It would be hypocritical of me. I am way ahead of you, methinks, on the fish side … but how’s this – you catch up, and then we’ll turn each other in! It’ll be fun. We could be waterboarded together!
