Dear Readers, the response was so overwhelming the last time we posted a request that word has spread. We just received several requests from the field. As always, the small things we can do help in big ways. Support our men and women as you can. Also remember that Operation Gratitude is out there as well, doing good work, and can use donations as you are capable.

Thank you for everything you do.

Here’s the latest requests:

My name is Chief Campano. I’m the Battalion Aid Station Senior Medical Department Representative of 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines.

We’re currently deployed here in Afghanistan since April this year. I got your name and email from SGTMAJ Hoopii and was told that you can send us some care packages. For almost 2 months now, we’ve been eating just MRE and must great if we can have something like noodles (a lot of noodles if possible), spam, vienna sausage and some wipes. I have about 20 personnel under me that would appreciate it. .

Thank you so much for supporting us. May god bless your heart for all good things that you do.

Take care.

Thank You. It is always great to hear that great Americans want to contribute to our Marines. As far as need, Hygiene products, i.e. disposable razors, travel size shaving cream, travel size tooth paste, ect… All of this would be very nice. As far as want, there is little to no e-mail or internet for the Marines, so books, magazines, and letter writing gear (no stamps are needed free out going mail).

My Address is:
SgtMaj William T. Sowers
1/5 H&S Co
Unit 40320
FPO AP 96427-0320

My name is Thomas Tran with 3/11 Headquarter Company Battery in Helman province, Afghanistan. I was “cc” a string emails exchanged between you and SgtMaj Caldwell about things that we may need here in theater so I am sending you this email requesting if you could send us as much rice as you can to feed approx 20 people. I am a BAS chief and a chef here at base camp Thunder 30 km south of main camp Leatherneck. Your support is greatly appreciated by us all.

Respectfully yours,

Thank you for your support. You have the smiles going out to you from the Marines and Sailors of “America’s Battalion”. Additionally, we have American soldiers, British soldiers and sailors also attached to us.

But in short, if you are looking for a list. I’d add up only the hottest of items we cannot get due to our geographical separation from the bases. So razors, baby wipes, foot powder, and soap are always the hot commodities. I don’t have any women out here so that makes it simple (but I’ve seen funnier things done out here when supplies are out). Magazines of what is going on in hometown America is always a hit as well. That in a nut shell is the basic needs not wants.

All items can be sent to me for distribution within theater at:

SgtMaj R.W. Breeden
2d Bn, 8th Marines
Unit 73225
FPO AE 09510-3225

Please let me know without hesitation if there is anything “we” can do for you out here (as limited as that is).

With deepest thanks,

Bob
