Bombshell: House Health Bill Makes Private Medical Insurance Illegal

It is not spin. It is not hyperbole. It is on page 16 of the bill.

From IBD.

It didn’t take long to run into an “uh-oh” moment when reading the House’s “health care for all Americans” bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.

When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage,” the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states:

“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won’t be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

So the Marxists in the Congress and the White House are officially trying to kill an industry and our freedom to purchase whatever insurance we choose for our families. There is not only no precedent for this in a free society, there is no Constitutional authority.

Washington does not have the constitutional or moral authority to outlaw private markets in which parties voluntarily participate. It shouldn’t be killing business opportunities, or limiting choices, or legislating major changes in Americans’ lives.

It took just 16 pages of reading to find this naked attempt by the political powers to increase their reach. It’s scary to think how many more breaches of liberty we’ll come across in the final 1,002.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: These people are monsters and must be stopped. They are hacking at our necks with broadswords and we are just sitting here letting them do it. I hate to say it, but maybe we can’t wait for 2010 to throw them out. It may be time for impeachments and recall elections.

The only saving grace may be that as these atrocities are aired, it makes it more likely that they will not pass. And then, my friends, it will be time to empty your wallets and buy a nice pair of campaign volunteer walking shoes to make the midterms such a bloodbath for the Democrats they will need guided (and guarded) tours of the Capitol to remember what it looked like.

Update: Ed Morrissey has more.

Almost as scary is OBAMA stating that "SENIORS need to be dumped into HOSPICE"
no tubes, stiches, life saving proceedures :

that Health Rationing committee, going to send mom, dad, grandparents into HOSPICE DEATH CAMPS for worthless seniors ? YOU think

Then, Sclinece CZAR Holderan, the population control advocate of mandatory abortions,
    mandatory sterilization: WHEW!

THIN the HC Advisory committee appointed by PBO will force the emotionally challenged folks and kids into MENTAL INSTITUTIONS: They have unlimited power in these bills.

WHO WOULD EVER have thought this was possible in the USA ?

SO: action, of every type is needed urgently in the next 2 days:

letters to the editors of small town local papers too
    emails,
    phones
    faxes
    petitions
SOUND THE ALARMS in the Senior organizations

WE HAVE TO DEFEAT THIS, in 2 days, perhaps 2 hours:

Then the campaign to throw the rotten bums out must begin tomorrow!

    Any time DT.
  • Bill,

Thanks for this information. I linked to it!

Oops, meant to say " girly men" like Arnold calls them.
  • Faye
AG, your right about BO not letting it be bloodless. The only thing those girly girls will fight for is the money from the flyover country leaving and they have to figure out how to pay for all of their humanitarian promises. Lord knows, they don't want to get stuck with the bills. They want to keep their life styles and stick someone else with the bill.
My big brother from Arkansas just told me that my senator, Ben Nelson from Nebraska, announced that he will vote for the cap and trade and for the health bill. Replied back that Ben must not be running for re-election cause if he votes for those two bills, that will make it almost impossible for him to win against a good GOP candidate.

AG: Thank you for the kind words. I live in the Red State of Arkansas with 2 Blue Senators and a real blue Congressman (figure that one out). Only one of them, Sen. Pryor, I feel, can ever be swayed to our side. He has done so in the past. Writing to Cong. Snyder is futile at best. He just votes party line and everything else be dmaned. Lately Sen. Lincoln is feeling the heat (simply because she is up for re-election) so that is why I keep after her.
Clarification: technically Arkansas is a Red State in that she usually votes for the Republican for president. But when it comes to Senators and Congressman: This state gives me a headache

    Faye,

I hope the revolution will be bloodless, but something tells me if it gets to that point the fool in the White House will make sure it's not.

I think your idea about giving Canada our progressives & taking their conservatives is brilliant. If all of their conservatives are a tenth as intelligent & funny as Mark Steyn we'll be richly blessed. I hope he never goes back to Canada.

Wishing you all the best with your business, but I sure don't want any of that beef from Mexico.

    Lorraine,

From one citizen to another, thank you & keep writing those letters. I spend a good amount of time contacting my so-called representatives. All Republican, but it doesn't seem to matter anymore. 2 of them have quit responding to me because they know that I don't fall for their political spin, the other one is Jeff Sessions & much as I hate to say it he's my last best hope of actually making any difference. He does respond to every missive I send & is even beginning to sound a little like a human being. I'll keep at him & the others until they do something or they're gone.

God bless you & hubby, & God bless America!
  • National movement to go to Senators/representatives offices on Friday July 17. 9:00 PST and 12: EST. We've got a bunch going to Boxer's office in Sacramento. Hey, if Californians can do it the rest of the country should outnumber us 2-1!
  • Bill Dupray
Dale, here is the text of the bill. Have fun. http://bit.ly/15fmcx
  • DaleM
Where can one go to see the physical wording on the bill? Is it available online someplace?
  • Faye
Thanks for the research into this. No wonder there is such a rush to get this done. And I bet there will not be enough time for congress or the voters to read the finished bill before it is passed by the super majorities of both houses.
All I can say is if that cattle fart tax is also implemented, we are liquidating and congress can enjoy eating grass fed sick cattle from Mexico. Hell of a time to start a new business in your late 50's but we can transfer over to irrigated farming.
I still think we need a revolution. Make a deal with Canada for them to take our progressives and will take their conservatives. In ten years observe which country has the healthier economy and the happiest citizen.
  • Lorraine
I agree AG....and so does my hubby......it is time to charge these people with treason. This has to stop. I really am afraid we cannot wait until 2010. It seems they have the bit in their teeth and they fear nothing. I truly am afraid for this nation.
I write and send e-mails and make phone calls and it all seems to fall on deaf ears. I just feel we must do something to get this nation back from these fools and barbarians.
  • Bill Dupray
We need to harass these people wherever they go. They need to see a marked change in their daily lives when interacting with voters. They need to go home at night and tell their spouses that they have never seen such blowback from the voters in all their years of service. They need to have a deep, visceral fear that they WILL be voted out of office if they vote the wrong way on these issues.
  • American Genie
Thanks, Bill. Somehow this doesn't surprise me.

I have been telling folks for months that I don't think we can wait until 2010 to get rid of these folks. I've also said more than once that I don't think impeachment is the way. I believe that charging these people with treason, starting at the top, is the only way we'll rid ourselves of them. The sooner the better.

    God bless America!
