Blanche Lincoln busted on a CYA vote on Medicare
The Reid bill cuts $42 billion in Medicare home care for seniors. Today the Senate took up an amendment by Republican Mike Johanns (R-NE) that would have restored the cuts and prevented the continued looting of the program.
In this video, Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) is standing in the well of the Senate and, along with the other Democrats, votes ‘no’ on the amendment, thereby keeping the cuts in the bill. Her no vote is clearly announced by the Senate clerk.
It appears that shorty thereafter, Reid and the boys realized they had enough votes to kill the amendment without her vote, and they called Lincoln over to green-light her switching the vote to ‘aye.’ We have to assume this was to make her look good to the seniors back home in Arkansas.
Then again, when the seniors in Arkansas see this, they may not think Sen. Lincoln covered her tracks very well. Don’t these people realize there are cameras in the Senate?
It is even more curious that. This flip-flop back to yes was also a change from her position on the amendment just 48 hours ago.
